| Blossoming Herbalist Study Guides Be on your way to becoming an herbalist with our twelve study guides. This course is for the serious herbal student who wishes to gain an in depth understanding of the principals and practice of herbalism. Study guides include information on preparations, a materia medica of bioregional herbs of the temperate zones, herbal actions, and a study of various common illnesses of each system of the human body. Written by herbalist and midwife, Janice Marsh-Prelesnik, the guides contain a variety of learning methods and include projects, writing, remedy preparation, creating a file of herbal recipes and remedies, case studies, etc. These study guides are a companion to our Blossoming Herbalist hands on workshop days in the spring and summer. Herbal apprenticeships are available to those who are working through the study guides. Please talk with Janice if you are interested in more information on apprenticeship. Cost is $65..00 per study guide which includes the guide, evaluations and food for thought from Janice. Students are also invited to the monthly Herbal Talk Gathering on the first Monday of each month. At this gathering hands on demonstrations and case studies will be presented. Gardening and harvesting herbs are also topics that will be covered at the monthly gatherings. The study guides may be started at any time, but are expected to follow in sequence, as each guide builds upon the next. Each guide may be completed in one month, for the twelve-month plan, or in two months for the two-year plan. For the twelve-month plan the student can expect 20-30 hours of study per week and for the two-year plan 10-15 hours of study per week. Upon completion of the entire twelve study guides the student will be awarded a certificate of completion. Self-discipline is essential to this way of learning. Students purchase a study guide and then return the completed work. At that time the work will be evaluated by Janice and then returned with the next study guide. Occasionally a student will be asked to redo some of the work in hopes of gaining a deeper understanding of the topic. It is expected that work will be typed written (double spaced, 14 font), edited and proofread. All references should be done American Psychological Association (APA) style. It is strongly recommended that students study college level anatomy & physiology, cell biology, and botany. The Study Guides 1.
