FROM THE PUBLISHER:
This book walks the reader on a journey through the sacred and holy time of the
seasons of pregnancy, the journey of birth, and motherbaby moon time. Poetic
and introspective in nature, and written from an earth-based perspective, this
book beckons a woman, whether pregnant, or considering pregnancy, to explore
the deeper, spiritual dimension of this time in her life.
Written it two sections the first section explores natural mothering throughout the
processess of pregnancy, birth, and motherbaby moon time. The second section
focuses on staying healthy naturally through the seasons.
FROM THE AUTHOR:
The natural process of the growth of a new baby, from conception to birth, and
the care of the motherbaby does not need to be considered a medical event, but
rather, a holy, sacred time in the lives of a new family.
Attitudes and beliefs will affect how a woman births and how she cares for her
baby. Giving this experience over to the medical care industry effects how a
woman feels about herself both as a woman, and as a mother.
When a mother chooses to become a natural mother she chooses to connect, or
reconnect, with biological order. The wisdom of nature and natural process are
her guides. This ancient knowledge comes to a natural mother through her
intuition.
My hope is that this book assists women in delving deeply into life's mysteries.
Caring for a baby is the most important work any woman will ever do. Blessings on
your journey! Janice Marsh-Prelesnik
FROM THE CRITICS:
Library Journal:
This book offers a perspective on birth and the mother-infant relationship that
blends the ideas and knowledge of traditional and Earth-based practices, modern
medicine, and New Age culture. In her capacity as a midwife, herbalist, massage
therapist, teacher, and healer, Marsh-Prelesnik bolsters readers' confidence in
their innate abilities. Her perceptive description of the stages and sensations of
active labor attests to her experience and considerable empathetic talents and will
help some readers vividly imagine, and thus better prepare for, the birth
experience. The text offers advice on getting enough sleep, exercise, fresh air,
sun, and nutritious food as well as instruction on developing intuitional
intelligence, learning to prepare and use herbal remedies safely, and knowing
when to seek medical attention. The medical information is grounded in accepted
practices, but some speculative concepts are presented as fact-e.g., that
thoughts physically affect the molecular structure of water crystals. The resulting
conclusions (in this case, that it is beneficial for pregnant women to dwell on
loving thoughts) are, however, benign. Recommended for public libraries.-Noemie
